In response to an application developed and prosecuted by LS&L lawyers in our Satellite and Spectrum Use and Policy Practice Groups, our client Maritime Telecommunications Network, Inc., ("MTN") has been awarded the first-ever FCC license to operate C-band Earth Stations on Vessels (""ESVs"). MTN operates communications networks via satellite on board the world's major cruise lines, commercial shipping vessels, oil rigs and other operations in the maritime environment. The grant of this license resulted from years of ground-breaking regulatory work by our lawyers before the FCC, the International Telecommunication Union, and other international forums, where domestic and international rules for use of C- and Ku-band Fixed Satellite Service communications on board moving vessels were negotiated and established.
