On behalf of its clients, LS&L carefully monitors relevant or noteworthy regulatory, legislative and judicial developments. Because our regulatory practice is well integrated with our legislative and litigation practice, the firm is fully equipped to devise coordinated and innovative regulatory, legislative and litigation strategies in response to particular problems or issues facing our clients. Importantly, our attorneys are well respected throughout various levels of government - from presidential appointees to support staff. We have addressed a diverse range of issues on behalf of clients with the FCC, NTIA, U.S. Department of Justice, congressional leaders, congressional committees, subcommittees and caucus members in the House of Representatives and the Senate, and the White House, to name a few.

Representative Matters

• Drafted proposed bill for Congressional action, subsequently enacted into law, revising international satellite law with respect to Intergovernmental Satellite Organizations
• Successfully lobbied Congress for inclusion in the U.S. Copyright Law of protection against unlimited importation of the signals of foreign broadcast stations beyond the U.S.-Mexican border
• Successfully lobbied Congress and the FCC to include in the U.S. Copyright Law, and companion FCC implementing regulations, compulsory license benefits to Mexican television stations along the common border
• Participated in developing tax rebate legislation for the deployment of satellite and terrestrial broadband systems
• Through extensive Congressional lobbying, obtained licensing of the world's first privately owned operational international satellite system
